Founding Nest for Ant Colony with Two Test Tubes and Small Outworld
An ideal setup for the initial phase of your ant colony, this founding nest provides ample space for the early stages of development. Place your queen in one of the two test tubes, which also serve as a formicarium, and observe the colony's progress.
Included in this set:
The founding nest made of PLA (3D printed) measuring 5x15cm
Separate white removable inner section made of PLA (3D printed).
2x test tubes sized 16x100.
3mm transparent plexiglass cover with small holes for oxygen and ventilation.
3mm red (transparent) plexiglass cover, providing darkness inside the nest while allowing observation of the colony's progress.
4 nest portals: 3 closed to seal off additional or all openings, and 1 open for potential connection to an external world.
• The white removable inner section is particularly useful if the exterior color is different from white, allowing clear visibility of the ants.
• A small hose can be inserted into the port with an opening (OD 10mm) or a larger hose (ID 12mm) (not included).
• Feeding your new colony is easy with the plexiglass cover that can be lifted to access the outworld.
Options:
• The founding nest is available in various colors.
• An extra Outworld Extension is available, increasing the height of the outworld to accommodate a liquid feeder (1 or 2 ml) for cases where the colony requires more liquid, especially during your absence.
• Additional types of nest portals are available for separate purchase.
• Optional nest legs can be purchased separately, which elevate the module slightly to allow for the placement of a heat cable underneath.

This Founding Nest is a part of our modular system, which ensures that you never buy anything that you won't use once your ant colony has grown. The modular system is easy to expand with other components. All modules are 5 cm or multiples thereof (this one, for example, is 5x15).
